Yeah, I think it'll be. I think you said this during the reaction, but like we know what this game is. I don't think there's going to be any major surprises mechanically or feature-wise. I think some things will be cool. Of course. There'll be secrets, but I feel like, yeah, this is an open-world Mario Kart, and this is what an open-world Mario Kart's going to look like.
It is not full-on Forza Horizon. It's Forza Light. Okay. Fair enough. Nintendo also detailed how outfits will work in the game. Races will feature dash food, and by collecting and eating it, characters will transform into an outfit related to that food. Eat sushi, and they'll wear a Japanese outfit. Once an outfit's been unlocked, it becomes available for use in the character select screen.

New tricks confirmed include the charge jump, which can be used for leaping over obstacles. Can I stop you, sir? Yeah.

They are as well. Oh, okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, when I was doing the free roam.

They'll just be in a bunch of random spots. It's like I jumped off like a van and there was one just kind of in the air and transformed me. In my experience, it seemed more random more often than not, where it wasn't like, oh, the sushi is the Japanese outfit. It was just like, you eat a burger and it turns you into a random ass thing. Sure, sure, sure.

It didn't feel like there was too much rhyme or reason, even though I get that in this trailer, we're seeing a little bit more correlation there. Yeah. But I don't know. I don't love it. I don't love it. It seems a little chaotic for my taste. You know what I mean? It seems a little...

Yep, yep, yep, yep. The free roam option was also shown in more detail. Players can freely drive around the game's map, but also hit P switches to start missions, as well as find hidden coins, hidden panels, and more. Players can also free roam with others online and use a photo mode. The game will support four-player split screen on a single switch, too. Local wireless for up to eight players.

I absolutely agree with you that I didn't expect to get the pre-order information or any of that in this direct. Yeah. Because, yeah, it is a different beat and all that stuff. Having said that, I do think that contextually with where we're at, with all the Nintendo Switch news and how the information has been handled and the level of utter chaos we are in.
