Just interested to hear your take on Celtic season after leaving last summer because it was...
Did it come as no surprise to you that despite the fact that there was all that adversity, what had happened with Wilfred Nancy coming in, the various changes of managers, Brendan Rodgers leaving, that the team managed to get over the line just knowing a lot of the players, knowing the mentality that they've got?
Daizy Maeda was playing yesterday for Japan he went through that long spell I think was it 18 games or so that he went without scoring a goal for Celtic and then stepped up in the big moments what does it say about him and what he's capable of that you know when it really mattered for Celtic he managed to step up get those goals and ultimately help Celtic win a double
As we talked about the Rangers managerial situation, Roger, the Celtic managerial situation is sorted to some extent that Martin O'Neill is there but there is this now sort of strange limbo period where the club, Sean Maloney, Mark Fotheringham seem to be at a bit of an impasse over whether they're going to return, what the terms of that return are going to be and what maybe makes it even more interesting is
is they're actually both in quite different scenarios.
Sean Maloney is an employee of the club.
He has a job at the club that's not the job that he's potentially getting.
And then Mark Fotheringham isn't an employee of the club.
So it's maybe not, you know, it's complicated in a couple of different ways.
the players would probably just be expecting that it would be the same management team that would come in and it would probably be a bit of a shock to them if all of a sudden Martin O'Neill turns up for the first day of pre-season and there's two other coaches that weren't there last season.
He talked about Sean Maloney and Mark Fotheringham a lot when it came to recruitment and he said that they're looking at players, they're running the rule over them.
He said that he would have the final say, but they were doing it as a staff.
So if you then got a big turnover of players that some people are expecting and there's still futures up in the air, Martin O'Neill was saying not that long ago that he wouldn't stand in the way of Dyson Maeda if he wanted to leave.
We don't know what's happening with Kelechi Iheanacho, etc.
You look at the guys that you've mentioned, the likes of Callum McGregor, the likes of James Forrest who's got another year on his deal, when there maybe is a bit of upheaval in the squad, how important is it having these guys in the changing room that have been the ever-presence that know exactly what it's like to be at Celtic and can run the rule over that dressing room no matter how many changes there are across the summer?
just on your time in Greece before we finish up.
I think you're back soon, going over there.
How much are you looking forward to a second season?
European place did you finish last season?
What have you got in terms of qualifiers?
