I don't want to misquote her.
I'm sorry, Minister.
But she said that they had been being bombarded by,
with voters reaching out to them, wanting clarity on all of this, that they'd had to reach out to the tech companies to get them to take down the fake search results that were coming up in the AI search functions.
The key thing for you to know is that all of this was a disinformation campaign.
There are no national road rules in Australia.
They're all state and territory based.
So there is a little crossover, but the easiest way to think about it is that disinformation is a deliberate set of fake information that's being presented.
Misinformation is incorrect or false information.
It may be shared, if you like, innocently by someone that thinks that it's the truth.
Like Gemini, yeah, I guess Gemini could be, yeah, I guess that's an example of where Gemini thinks it's real.
But the misinformation might be more like your aunt saying, oh, I heard all of these bushfires are started by arsonists.
There was a report on the radio about an arson arrest.
Probably there was an arson arrest.
But maybe the bulk of the bushfires were started by lightning strikes and the climate scientists would argue that the broader conditions were created as a result of climate change.
So the lines do blur, but there's, I guess, a level of uncertainty
There can be a level of innocence about the misinformation.
