He enjoys the game.
He enjoys winning.
And then, unfortunately, he loses.
And then once debt accumulates, that activates regions in his brain.
He starts to think, I'm a loser.
This isn't good.
It's intolerable.
I got to chase my losses.
And instead of stopping, he views gambling as the solution.
Dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig.
And it's just a matter of math.
And then once that hole gets bigger, that's what the addiction is.
Yeah, a lot of what I talk about is the way that we spend our money or manage our money is often a way to reinforce an identity or a self-concept we have about ourselves.
And then money itself can also create a new identity and it's very emotionally driven.
And so what happens is, you know, there's a social aspect, there's a community aspect, maybe there's even a boredom aspect.
And so once you kind of get wrapped up in this flywheel of gambling, you know, it often will, again, you'll just kind of keep
participating in it to reinforce that self concept you have of yourself.
And of course, there's also wrapped up in this idea of like, you know, we're in a loneliness epidemic.
Loneliness is a big business.
Lonely consumers are more likely to spend money.
