The last time that mandated a peacekeeping mission was in 1956 during the Suez crisis.

So there hasn't been any since then.

And trying to go through

that process will be labyrinthine, will be complex and will be doomed to failure.

The model for the UN was devised after the Second World War and it's not fit for purpose anymore.

You have five superpowers, all of which are warring against each other, who are going to veto anything that goes against their interests and it's very difficult.

But the alternative is also difficult.
