And on August 22nd, Irina was stabbed in the neck on her way home from that job.
We've all seen the video.
She was minding her own business, scrolling on her phone.
This is just her commute home.
This is not unlike everything that all of us Americans do all the time.
Going to work, a lot of us take the train.
A lot of us take the bus.
A lot of us drive.
A lot of us rely on public transportation.
When I lived in New York, I certainly had to.

But this deranged individual...
pulled a pocket knife out of his sweatshirt and stabbed her multiple times.

This is what is so disturbing.
These are the last seconds of Irena Zarutska's life.
And it happened so quickly, but this man goes off the train immediately.
