Yes, you can. Mark is very similar to Matthew and Luke because they are using Mark as a source. And in all of those ones, the stress is on John as the forerunner, the Elijah figure. But you get a completely different picture in John's Gospel. And in this Gospel, in fact, you have people coming to John the Baptist and they say to him, are you the Christ? Yes.
