My interpretation of the mirror is that spiritual beings are everywhere, including in you.
You can communicate whatever you like.
You have such freedom in Japanese spirituality.
Yes, that is a very old historical tradition.
There's a big shrine called the Ise Grand Shrine.
So what they do is that every 20 years, they dismantle a shrine and rebuild with new materials.
Not just the buildings, but also offerings, like, say, the clothes for kami or items for other items to ride a spiritual horse, or just things like that, or shoes, swords, everything.
But it's not just destroying and they throw all the things away.
It's all recycled, the building's materials.
Those are used for other shrines to fix or rebuild.
And there are two reasons why they do that.
Historically, it's based on toko waka, forever young.
But it's not celebrating youth.
It's changing.
But in order to keep the same thingness, the youth, quote unquote, you have to change.
And that's one reason why.
