No, but generally the spend is way down.
I always remember at the preschool my kids went to, there would always be you donate gifts for the raffle for Mother's Day overflowing baskets.
Father's Day, maybe a couple of bottles of red like that.
I think that Father's Day isn't such a big deal, which is, you know, has its own issues.
But I think that Mother's Day getting bigger and bigger and bigger, apparently Australians will spend a billion dollars on Mother's Day this year.
A billion dollars.
And in 20 years, so since 2006, that's gone up from, I think the stats were something like now people, then people were spending an average of $45 on a present or flowers or...
brunch or whatever.
And now the average spend is 140.
Now, obviously there's inflation in that, but also it's just this increased pressure to like celebrate, celebrate.
It's never enough.
Who are we celebrating?
And it's also indicative that thing you said about active motherhood, which is just going to do my head in all day, is how myopic we can also be sometimes is that we think that motherhood is changing nappies.
But like motherhood is also dealing with your adult kids' financial problems, being nice to their partner that you don't like, you know, like giving them... Like once you're a parent, you're always a parent in some way.
And it seems funny to me that we're always trying to find reasons to cut people out, cut mothers out of being celebrated.
I know.
Yeah.
I want to know what will happen in your house on Mother's Day for you as a mother of a small child.
Yes, please do.
What did you ask for?
