And the turnaround on these live reality shows is so quick that when it does come to this word narrative, it's
There's not really any time to fake anything compared to maths where the producers essentially have five months, six months even to sit with all of their footage and look at it and go, what can we make from this rather than...
How can we show what actually happened?
But the drama in the UK right now is they've just aired an all-stars second season of I'm a Celebrity for this year.
And this one was pre-recorded six months ago, which meant producers of this show did have time to edit it in a way that they wouldn't usually edit I'm a Celebrity and in ways that the celebrities themselves don't expect this show to be edited.
And yeah, they did have time to create narratives, just like maths to establish heroes and villains.
But worse than that, again, as it was pre-recorded, which never happens with this show in the UK,
This also meant that now over the last month or so as it's been airing, those celebrities, they weren't in camp with like no technology and no TVs and completely unaware what was being shown back home.
But they were sat home watching with everyone else and a few of them, as they watched it, they were like, what the fuck is this?
And then around a week and a half ago now, as that season wrapped on TV in the UK with many, many, many unhappy contestants, the network were doing a live finale where the ones who were the final three from the pre-recorded thing six months ago reunited in a studio in London with the whole cast and they were interviewed and then the public would vote the winner.
Yeah, as they all did come together again and, you know, the cameras press record and it was live to literally, what, maybe 10 million people.
Those ones who felt they'd been done wrong by the edit, they went rogue on live television.
I'm not sure if Australians know about Ant & Dec, the hosts of I'm a Celeb in the UK, but they're like household names.
They've been around maybe 25, 30 years.
They're like the family-friendly duo everyone knows and has grown up with, and they're never part of drama with celebs or contestants or whatever.
They're quite just impartial, but fuck that live finale.
The UK was like, wow, we've never seen Ant and Dec raise their voices.
Like, I don't know if I'm conveying it enough, but to me, the UK even seeing that, I was like, what is happening?
This is like uncharted territory.
