you know, four more letters to properly 45 long coat.
So I said, look, man, I was like, I'm not going to, you can call it whatever you want.
I'm okay with that.
I have no interest in arguing with you, but just for, for, for factual information, let's, let's talk about it real quick.
Like a rabbit.
The 45 Colt came out in 1873, and it was initially a black powder cartridge.
Right.
And it was adopted by the U.S.
Army.
When the U.S.
Army was carrying the Colt single action, or the Peacemaker, it was chambered in 45 Colt.
A lot of the, a lot of the Calvary men and a lot of the armies were carrying the Smith and Wesson Schofield top break.
Yep.
That was also chambered in a 45 caliber cartridge.
Yes.
Okay.
But the .45 caliber cartridge that fit in the Smith & Wesson Schofield was shorter than the .45 caliber cartridge that fit in the single action.
Right.
So a lot of the people in the Army would call it the long colt.
solely for logistical purposes right right ammo and they need the colt yeah right so if you're running a single action give me the long colt you know why they didn't call it the long 45 i don't know but but so so it was it was a name assigned to them by logistic officers in the 1870s
