It would be more like a tool.
In which case, our main worry would be, like, people not...
either misusing the tool or accidentally making the tool destroy us by giving the wrong commands.
But we wouldn't have to worry about an AI having its own goals that it pursues if we can make it so it doesn't have any recursive thought.
on on that at some point but really it's very very amorphous ideas so far you think it's important for ai researchers to have a decent background in uh old religions that cover these sorts of things so they have some idea about what to look out for what to avoid well i i definitely think it makes rune a better ai researcher um do we'd like to say anything about rune
What are you expecting or fearing about the emergence of general intelligence in Silicon?
Like you work in AI, right?
When you use the tools that you work with, do you ever see things that make you think, huh, there's an inkling there that if someone were to really pull on it, they might be able to go somewhere with it in terms of building a thing more like us?
Oh shit, so they could accidentally ladder up into recursive thought.
Okay, okay.
So it isn't thought yet.
Do you think they could recurse upon themselves, accidentally start recursing upon themselves to discover self-consciousness?
I've heard about the microtubules thing.
It seems like hand-waving to me, but I'm not...
A quantum physicist.
To me, I wouldn't be able to judge anyway, so I'm staying agnostic on that front.
But doesn't that contradict your primary thesis here in the Eve Theory of Consciousness that what gave us consciousness is when we looked inwards and discovered ourselves through recursive thought?
Okay, so the Eve theory may be necessary to bring about this phase change, but it's not sufficient.
There might also be quantum effects that interact with all of this.
Does snake venom affect the microtubules?
