Well, yeah, the list of venomous mammals is extremely short.
So there's platypuses, there's shrews, there's slow lorises, and there's selenodons, which are related to shrews.
This is where you can get away from them.
Pretty sharpish, isn't it?
Absolutely.
But yeah, platypuses, male platypuses.
No teeth.
Of course, right.
So where does it keep it?
They have long spurs, about two centimetres long, on the inside of their ankles.
And in fact, they're the only known seasonally venomous animal across the animal kingdom.
So the only mammal, the only animal that is only venomous some of the time.
That they use their venom for competition in mating.
So it's male-on-male competition.
