I don't think there's a great deal of surprise about that.
I think we've seen other players wear the armband this season, the likes of Axel Twenzabi, Marcus Rashford.
David De Gea you'd probably say that Maguire is the leading candidate and certainly I think he's made a big impression coming into Manchester United not only going to Solskjaer I think he's someone worthy of the privilege of being Manchester United captain and when you think of some of the great captains over the years I think you have to go back to before the second world war to find the person that came into the club and was made captain more quickly than Harry Maguire you know the likes of Brian Robson Roy Keane had to wait an awful lot longer than Harry Maguire did but um
I think that shows how much respect there is.
And probably it also shows on the other side of things how few leaders there are among the Manchester United squad right at this moment.
In terms of, you know, Ashley Young leaving in a void or an absence or a gap here at Manchester United, it will be filled at the moment by Brandon Williams, the 19-year-old who's made such a really, really big impact on the left-hand side and probably is number one choice there, certainly in the absence of Luke Shaw, who's injured again.
And then you've got the likes of Diogo Dalot and Timothy Fosu-Mensah who are coming back from injury.
I don't think it's
you know, a case that Manchester United are blessed with loads of options.
They won't replace or strengthen in terms of left-back position this window.
And I think it's something they might look at in the summer.
But right now, you know, Brandon Williams has that shirt and it's his shirt to lose.
So,
They go to Anfield, I think, with him expecting to play and with Harry Maguire as Manchester United's new captain.
Yeah, certainly no word on Paul Pogba.
I think those comments were designed to get Paul Pogba's name in amongst the January transfer nonsense.
He's injured at the moment.
I think Manchester United wouldn't get
the money they want nor the wages that the player would want right at the moment.
I think it was designed to put his name firmly in the shop window when that window closes and he's got to get back playing fit for Manchester United, maybe have a good Euros for France for anything to kind of turn into anything transfer-wise and Manchester United still have a year on that plus the option of another year.
