I'll repeal those laws.
One of the first things I'll do is I'll repeal those laws for the very simple reason that hatred of Jews is wrong.
Hatred of Christians is wrong.
Hatred of Muslims is wrong.
But criticism of Israel β
now called anti-Semitism, is not illegal.
In fact, a law that would prohibit the criticism of Israel violates the First Amendment of the United States Constitution.
And I swear an oath to that constitution.
So I'll never allow that law to be enforced in Florida.
This is not hypothetical, by the way.
Two months ago, a veteran of the National Guard
who lives in Miami Beach, heard a loud bang at the door.
It was two police officers that the mayor had sent to her home to confront her over a, quote, anti-Semitic Facebook post.
I remember that.
Think about that.
What she posted on Facebook...
led the police to bang at her door.
Can you imagine telling Thomas Jefferson, Alexander Hamilton, Ben Franklin, George Washington that a man, an elected official, sent armed police to an unarmed woman's home to confront her for criticizing the government?
I will remove that mayor, Steve Miner, on my first day in office using Article 4, Section 7 of the Florida Constitution.
He violated his oath by sending police to confront someone over protected speech.
