It's assumed you're going to do it.
And if you're not doing it, there's something wrong with you.
Do you think that we should normalize long-term relationships where marriage is not the end goal?
No.
I think we should be honest about what marriage is.
Marriage is a state concept.
Someone once said, God is the name we give to the blanket that we put over a mystery to give it shape.
I think marriage is a thing we put on top of a certain kind of romantic love.
because we think it's going to keep it safe.
It gives a name to something, you know, like Wittgenstein said, you know, where understanding fails or where it comes to take its place.
I think marriage is like a name we give to a type of relationship we aspire to.
But really what marriage is, is a government creation.
It's a legal status.
