I do think we have to reckon with the fact that circumstances have changed in a, like, very meaningful way for the Canucks.

And I also think, let's say, hypothetically...

You were really, really high on Caleb Malhotra as an organization, and that includes Ryan Johnson.

You hire Manny Malhotra, and in those conversations, you make the decision that, you know what, we're not going to do that.

We're not going to draft the son.

You're not going to come out and say that.

Like, their behavior wouldn't be any different.

You would still want teams to think that you have no issue with it and that you're still intent on drafting Caleb Malhotra.

That's a smokescreen.

That's what we see all the time around this part of the season, around draft, is teams trying to obfuscate.

Which, again, I'm not trying to say, therefore, they are obfuscating and this is all a smokescreen.

I'm just trying to think hypothetically.

What would it look like if they were doing that?

It's like, well, it looked like this.

It would look like everyone being like, oh, yeah, no, no problem.

We're totally cool with it.

It's great.

So I'm still just a little skeptical.

Maybe I'm wrong.

Maybe it's my own bias creeping in.
