There's no doubt and I don't know whether it was the war but I think that the government have seen that they have a majority in the House of Representatives and they've said this is our last chance to implement what we've always wanted to do but denied we were going to do.

So in 2019 Bill Shorten essentially took all of these taxes to an election, lost that election, everyone was surprised.

He was surprised that he lost, but he did.

And now Labor have denied that they were ever going to go back to that tax agenda, that high tax agenda.

But they have because they can now.

But I think that they'll pay an enormous price for it.

They'll pay an enormous price, not just for the high tax agenda, but for lying about it on the way through.

And they have breached a fundamental trust with the people that voted for them.

Well, I think that the Greens will end up supporting it, shamefully, because it will damage the very constituency that they say that they represent.

However, I also think it would be a grave mistake of the Labor government to ram massive, significant tax increases through.

This is not reform, let's be really clear.

This is not tax reform.

Don't ever let anyone sell it to you as tax reform.

This is increased taxes.

That's all it is.

And if you ran that through without adequate scrutiny, without allowing stakeholders, whether they be small business people, whether they be startups, whether they be young investors, an opportunity to have their say, to work out how it's going to affect them, I think that that would be a very big mistake.

Actually, I'd lower capital gains tax tax for everybody, if I were Queen for a day.

Because we are currently uncompetitive.

Our overseas competitors, whether it be Singapore or New Zealand or the UK or the US, they all have lower capital gains taxes than Australia, which means that it's more competitive to start a business offshore, to buy assets offshore,

to try and build wealth offshore.
