Maybe, but we don't know.

But there are definitely the debacle in the dressing room, the decision to keep some, trade others, and then what it turned into.

That's a tough sell.

Typical, typical.

It's one of those things where you obviously got your fingers crossed that it's finally your time.

And then it doesn't happen.

It's one of those things where, yeah, you can shake your head and then move on and you're going to get a great player regardless.

Now you're just at the mercy of seeing whoever picks before you and then you move forward.

Lots of great players are drafted third overall.

So no reason why they can't find one there as well.

On the spot here, I don't know, but I did see somewhere someone suggested that once you are out...

you start accumulating points towards your finishing last.

So once you're eliminated from the playoff, if you win a game that counts as points towards finishing last, that would incentivize you to really play hard down the line and not care anymore, so to speak.

Again, that's obviously a tough one as well.

But otherwise, I don't like tanking either.

I don't like the fact that you can just come out and next year Conor McDavid is coming up and let's just lose every game so we get him.

I don't agree with that.

So I like this better, even though right now it obviously sucks to be a Vancouver Canuck when you just lost the first overall pick.

But that's the name of the game.
