Acquiring Ryan Strom is insufficient if you can't design the path for him to increase his value.

The Strom acquisition by the Flames was actually the second step.

First, they traded Nazem Kadri to the Avalanche, which created top six center minutes.

So all of a sudden, Strom struggling at the bottom end of the Anaheim Ducks lineup, in and out of the lineup.
