This is from the story on Sportsnet.ca.
Sportsnet, Elliot Freeman reported on Tuesday that the NHLPA asked the NHL to do the investigation.
According to Freeman's sources, at issue is the fact the league was never prepared to investigate what happened with the Blue Jackets until Babcock resigned in September of 2023.
Once he stepped down, it never happened.
Mm-hmm.
The union's current position now is that it should happen and conclusions reached before he should be eligible.
According to multiple sources, one of the more serious concerns was a meeting that occurred away from the team facilities that included several minutes of looking through a phone, blah, blah, blah.
Furthermore, sources indicate that asking players to see photos is not what ultimately resulted in Babcock's resignation.
It was the subsequent unknown allegation reported below that caused Babcock his job in Columbus.
So there's something else on top of the photos.
I just think this is...
You just put β when you β listen, you can have your opinions on Mike Babcock, whatever.
Like, I think both of you guys are having, you know, differing opinions on what a lot of people think of Babcock and him making his return, okay?
And I think it's fair to have that opinion.
But, like, when you are potentially hiring Mike Babcock, not only just for a job, but for one of the more higher-profile jobs in the National Hockey League, coaching Connor McDavid, the Oilers, one of the marquee franchises of the last 10 years β
You're just putting yourself in harm's way with this stuff.
It's just such a big story.
Like, you have to make sure the juice is worth the squeeze here, boys.
I'm not sure it is.
But maybe there's not much of a squeeze here.
