And the person's not really defending that.
They're just kind of getting the mechanics down.
And then three months later, you'll be like, all right, like, let me see you drill that, that move, that pattern, that, that whatever.
And they're kind of like a kid tonight.
he we have like a testing process that we do uh and what they have to do is they have to get things signed off so like before they take a test this is just my thing yeah i'm curious this is not common to jiu-jitsu this is not the way most people do this way i do it right you to get your stripes you got to take a test well the test is in front of people and it's nerve-wracking as right
And for the longest time, when people would fail the test, because I definitely fail people, when people would fail the test, it would be hard for me to know, was that a lack of knowledge or was that performance anxiety?
Because if it's performance anxiety, me teaching you the technique, it's not going to help you.
And if it's a lack of knowledge, me talking about positive mental attitude and breathing out your nerves, that's not going to fucking help.
You don't know how to do it.
And so what we do now is before you're eligible to take your test, you got to get everything signed off.
So they'll come up to a coach and be like, coach, can I sign off my arm bar?
And you're like, yeah, let me see it.
And they do it.
And I go, that's solid.
And I signed it.
Or I go, Hey man, it's still messed up.
And here's what was fucked up and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
And I'll try again tomorrow or the next day or whatever.
But if everybody signs their shit off,
Then when they step in front of the room and I'm like, all right, show me the arm bar.
