This is why, again, like I don't do contract law.
This is not just like talk about icings and offsides here on the show.
It would be an antitrust violation.
I've negotiated a bunch of coaching contracts now.
I think the bigger issue is a lot of reps are just so used to doing SPC standard player contracts or boilerplate coaching contracts that they don't ever negotiate for outs for their clients or payoffs if they're denied permission to talk to teams if they've been fired, etc.
So can't be standardized without a CBA would be an antitrust violation.
Interesting, wouldn't have considered that not ever having been a contract lawyer.
But the idea of negotiating for outs or payoffs being based on denying permission to talk to teams when fired is an interesting one as well.
The other one, so thank you for that mystery person who will not be revealed here on this program.
This person will be revealed.
We're hoping to get Dave Jackson on today.
He's otherwise detained, but because he's Dave Jackson and he's awesome,
former NHL referee and now ESPN rules analyst, who, by the way, one of the reasons why I really like Dave is Dave goes where the work needs to be done.
Like Dave just doesn't go to like referees conferences and speak to people who already agree with him.
It's like the phenomenon of like preaching on campus.
Like, look, everybody already agrees with you.
You're not getting any of the work done.
I like Dave because he goes on social media and,
and explains and defends and digs in his heels and launches bombs and takes attacks like...
I got a ton of respect for Dave.
