um you know i suppose it started really you started you know calling calling games off the telly in the in the lounge and and uh and listening to your favorite commentators and that sort of thing and mucking around with your friends and yeah and i like i would always say that jonah rugby is the best video game of all time but but i know there'd be people listening that would they would argue rugby oh eight is this so what was yours i was all right you were an o8 boy i know you're a little bit younger than me but i was very much shown a little rugby
Bill McLaren, Bill Beaumont, and just some of the great quotes, like we would just spend hours playing that game.
So I think that game's probably had something to do with it.
But as I say, just getting up, I remember early mornings getting up, watching the All Blacks playing that 95 World Cup, going around to my uncle's house with Dad and being up bright and early to watch the All Blacks play Scotland.
There are those moments you don't forget, the 96 South Africa tour and others where you think, that's a pretty cool job.
But yeah, mucking around and doing impressions and commentating everything from making toast in the morning to, I don't know, all sorts of stuff, washing the car.
I think not the whole game, but like you'd probably just, um, you'd probably just try a few things and, um, and, and that's probably where I guess, uh, a bug to maybe get into the sports media side of things started.
But when I started getting into it, went to broadcasting school, um,
I think that the key priority initially was to, to, to study journalism and get into sports reporting and that sort of thing.
And I think probably commentary was a bit of a pipe dream because it's not exactly something that's advertised to become a commentator.
