I'd say Schaefer went through last year, although he plays a different position, but certainly Celebrini a couple years and Bedard a few years ago, is those guys walked on to teams that had nothing around them, like nothing around them.
Where the Leafs, if Matthews and Nylander and Tavares and Nyes are here, we use those four players, those are four serious players in the NHL.
Like Matthews in particular, if he's healthy and chugging, has been a top five or seven player in the league for the majority of his career.
And I don't know if that's asking too much.
And I'm very curious what this is going to look like with the new coaching staff and new management because historically β
We all remember when Matthews came into the league, it was like Babcock's job in conjunction with Lou and Shanahan to kind of shelter him, take it easy, play Bozak more, play Kadri more, just ease him in, don't put too much on his plate.
