You can't go through life making enemies of every personal friendship you've ever had, and I don't do that.
I try to keep on terms with people.
Are you awkward in relationships?
Yes, I should imagine I am, but...
Because I like to... In the life of being an elected MP, politician or anything else, an awful lot of time you're basically at somebody else's beck and call.
The pressure is on, be here, be there, go there, do this, do that, be here.
If you just do that, you then end up seven days a week, 24 hours a day, running from issue to issue, place to place.
But I also utterly determined that I will do other things in life as well.
And so I do make time, which annoys people sometimes, that I'm...
I'm going to be reading something now or I'm going to be working on my allotment or I'm going to be making something and so on.
So you have to bring that variety.
And also I try to read things that are nothing to do with day-to-day politics.
And so I'm just at the moment reading John Lewis Stemple's book about the natural history of England.
