And I would hear Brian Roberts, a teammate of mine with the Baltimore Orioles, he had some incredible cleats, Adam Jones, and they would always push that 50% right to the maximum.
And sometimes they would go past it in hopes that it would be okay.
And I think most of the time it was, as long as it wasn't just egregious infraction on the rule.
And then MLB had people policing it.
They would look and say, hey, this shoe doesn't appear to have 50% black.
You know, you got to redo it.
And they would talk to Nike.
So it was like not only were they not allowing it, but they were policing it and kind of containing themselves.
And I think when you think about basketball, basketball had the same thing.
But you talked about at the beginning that, you know, MLB is late to the party.
And whether it's Michael Jordan and having the shoe, the band Airship, Air Jordan 1, as people commonly remember it.
And black and red wasn't the team color.
He had to have more white in it.
And so even the NBA had the rule, but it seems as though they adapted their rule much sooner.
And when you have a guy like Michael Jordan to kind of push the envelope, I suppose it's easier to change the rules a little bit sooner.
But nonetheless, baseball a little bit more traditional.
And come 2017-18, suddenly they say, you know what?
this is a great way for our game to grow through player expression, through player, through excitement and, and flair on the field.
And that's what, you know, fans enjoy.
They enjoy that aspect of it.
