You know, people who job hop statistically earn more.
And it's because in the job market to attract new people and to attract good people, I think as well, companies do have to offer more money or offer more perks or offer whatever.
But that doesn't mean that most of the time they're turning around to the people who've been there for a long time or working hard or doing whatever and say, oh, well...
Sam, I know that you're earning $50,000.
We just hired someone who's going to do the same thing as you.
We're going to pay them $70,000 even though you've been here three years.
Most businesses don't do that.
Like it's just the sad reality.
And so I think you shouldn't be embarrassed because I'm sure this is happening.
It's happened to my partner.
I'm sure it's happened to many, many other people as well.
I think that you should absolutely have a conversation about it.
This is why laws came into effect that prevent pay secrecy clauses because you have a right to know what other people are earning and you have a right to then have a conversation based off of that.
I think you have very solid grounds to go to your employer and say, hey β
It's not about what you pay them.
It's about what I deserve.
Because if you're saying someone coming in with less experience than me is worth that.
It's not about them.
Yeah.
It's like logically it makes sense for you to then be asking to, I think, overstep it a little bit, but at the very least be matched.
