It seems that since then, Neopets has really, which is why we're talking about now, Neopets, the brand, PM, has released a statement about the adaptation of
Because Geekify have licensed the IP for them, obviously.
And Neopets has claimed that the beta playtest document that Geekify released earlier this month, they did so without their approval and they requested the document to be taken down.
Because if you've ever worked with a brand IP, usually developing it takes a lot longer because as the publisher, you create it and then you have to send it to them.
They read it and review it and give it the rubber stamp.
And usually they're just checking there's nothing weird in it or anything that contradicts the law.
But they have said, following an internal review, Neopets has determined that the content themes contained within the document do not align with our brand standards, values, or the expectations we hold for experiences created under the Neopets license.
But yes.
So they're saying for the new edition, because a lot of fans and people that have backed it have said they're a bit disappointed that it's combat focused because Neopets is not combat focused.
They said, Neopets have said, we are also insisting that the game captures the full breadth of the Neopets experience, not just combat, but the exploration, magic, community, creativity, and whimsical storytelling that makes Neopia so beloved.
Which is very true, because there is a combat dome and you can have that, but that's not what Neopets is about.
Yeah, this is like a family-friendly, whimsical sort of game.
And I think what they were trying to do is do a session zero degree of the content.
Because in every game I run, I do a thing on that.
And that can be as basic as, are you okay with your character being flirting with?
Like if you're in the tavern and the barmaid gives your character a wink, do you want that?
Because some people are like, no.
