Committee chairman Republican Jim Jordan noted special counsel Jack Smith was appointed a few days after President Trump said he was running for a second term and that Smith appointed people to his team who'd participated in the raid on Mar-a-Lago.
Former special counsel Jack Smith testified to lawmakers.
Smith said he believed the evidence proved President Trump tried to overturn the election results in 2020 and that he mishandled classified documents.
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Ohio Republican Congressman Jim Jordan noted the timing of Jack Smith's investigations, saying in November of 2022.
Jordan said Smith put people on his team who were also behind the raid at Mar-a-Lago.
Committee ranking member Democrat Jamie Raskin noted Smith's long career prosecuting all manner of crime.
Smith told the committee he believed the evidence he gathered showed President Trump mishandled classified documents and illegally tried to overturn the 2020 election.
