They want these companies to be held accountable for their transhuman craziness.
That's also a misconception that
tech companies love to perpetuate, the first two signatories on the letters saying no to this nonsense are actually the two most cited scientists in the world.
They're like Einstein and the Oppenheimer of our time, all categories.
It's Geoff Hinton and Yoshua Bengio who really helped pioneer this technology.
And both of them are having this Oppenheimer moment now where they're like, holy smokes, what have we done?
No, the vast majority of scientists
believe that we have no clue how we would control something much smarter than us.
And many think of it as basically inviting aliens, technologically superior aliens, to just come to Earth and take over and see what happens, which obviously would count as high treason by any reasonable standards.
