Yeah, I mean, they were able to celebrate yesterday by watching Dustin May throw a one hitter.
They traded James Tibbs, who was like the best player they got in the Devers package for Dustin May at the deadline and a horrible deal.
So that was fitting a little bit.
I mean, I think, you know, you look back to that deal.
It was chiefly about getting him out of town.
You know, he had become a real clubhouse problem.
The refusal to play first base going against John Henry and Sam Kennedy and Craig Breslow, you know, both sides described it as untenable.
So I think that's step one that they just needed to part ways with them.
But when you look at everything that's happened since the trade has not aged well, that trade got them a lot of financial flexibility because the Giants took on every cent remaining on Devers deal.
The Red Sox gave that money largely in extensions to, you know, Roman Anthony before the deal, Garrett Crochet, both of those guys are on the IL right now.
And then they were unable to really land a huge free agent with that money.
They weren't able to re-sign Bregman, even though he struggled in Chicago.
A lot of that dough went to Rangers Suarez, but I think people thought when they traded Devers, they'd have another, you know, mega deal to hand out.
That hasn't happened.
And then when you look at, you know, the guys that they got in that trade,
Three of the four are no longer with the organization.
They got Jordan Hicks, who was terrible here and is terrible in Chicago.
James Tibbs, who they flipped for Dustin May, who barely pitched at all down the stretch last year.
And Kyle Harrison, they flipped for...
Caleb Durbin, Andrew Monasterio in a spring training trade that has not aged particularly well either.
