England famously won the World Cup in 66 in a red shirt.
Okay.
Actually, the origins of the England white shirt are a lot more obscure.
It comes back to the first ever international, which was between England and Scotland in 1872.
And Scotland wore dark blue because they just borrowed kits from Queen's Park, which is the club in Glasgow that represented Scotland.

We want to contrast with the dark blue.
there's a shop down the road, they've got some cricket kits, so we'll just wear that white.

The swinging on the crossbars.

I suppose they were in the home team on the side of the draw.
But that red is now, you know, there used to be a thing that England would kind of always win in red and lose in white.
But that completely holds true over the last 10 years.
But yeah, obviously the greatest moment in English football was wearing red, which is a bit strange.
Well, it's such a big thing now, these vintage shirts, and people are finding things in their loft that are worth huge sums of money.
