But at the same time, what did they tell us?
Right.
And so you can't dangle that out there.
Have the trade deadline that they had in season and then go into the offseason and not prime people for the expectation that they're going to spend a lot and they're not going to be in bidding wars.
They're going to win bidding wars because they have financial flexibility of getting out of that crowd.
See, that's frustrating because if you're not getting an answer, it feels like it's not doing anything.
Here's the sneaky thing when you talk about, like, the cheap thing.

And when they're not, they don't want to spend.
Like maybe they'll keep their franchise player around, but they don't want to spend.
They will go dip into the luxury tax or however you want to look at it, spend to the max.
when they feel like they are contenders and all eyes are on them.
And that's why I think it's interesting to hear like the 2026 championship run that the Red Sox are expecting to go on because they're opening themselves up to say for people to say like, okay, you're going to go big right now.

We've been talking about this for years, and it was back when I was in afternoons with Lou, and Lou would say, like, you know, they're like rich Italians who are choosing to eat polenta.
Like, go get yourself some veal.
What are you doing?
You know, like, and that's how long it's been that we've been waiting.
It makes me think of, like, Newt Rockne.
Like, we're going to go inside.
