And if it is, then the move to get Kirk on the roster might be some kind of an IL assignment for Springer.
That is within the realm of possibility here.
Because I am sympathetic to the argument that you don't want to lose Heinemann at this stage.
And also, if you're planning on having Valenzuela or Kirk, be the DH.
half the time, or even more than that, you still want to have a backup catcher.
Otherwise, it gets way too complicated, and all of a sudden, if you lose him via DFA, and then some kind of injury happens, then you're really stuck.
So I do think that protecting Heinemann on the roster is a legitimate...
idea here and having Heineman allows you to deploy both Valenzuela and Kirk in the lineup on a consistent basis without panicking for nine innings.
Okay, that's the managerial psychology to where if George is to the spot where he's just not really able to help you physically, then there may be a physical reason for it and putting him on the IL at least for a time
might be a very logical and safe approach of getting Kirk back on the roster.
And again, we all watch this team a lot, and people listening are probably nodding their heads.
In terms of hitters you most want to see at the plate right now for the Toronto Blue Jays, where does Valenzuela rank?
Okay, there's your answer.
So on a team that is struggling to hit consistently, there's just no way, no way that you're going to take your second or third best hitter and send them out.
That can't happen.
John from North Windsor or West Windsor, however you want to look at it.
That's right.
Right, and it's going to be an extended absence.
The one thing if you're the Yankees, though, and they have to work on this calculus, if they believe that Judge is going to be back by the stretch run, and I'm talking about August, September,
then they're probably not going to make what I would describe as a desperate move.
