since we were readmitted to this country by Oliver Cromwell, Jews have played a big part in British life and I think the Jews have been good to Britain and Britain has been good to the Jews and that's why this moment is such a difficult one for us because it doesn't feel like that anymore.

Well, I think there are some people in this country who very much want to say Jews decide, Britain or Jewish, which one?
And I don't think that's the point.
I think that being Britain first, wanting to stand up for British values and Britishness isn't...
a question of not having other people or outsiders within Britain.
It is actually, in my opinion, for me as a Brit, you know, I was born here.
I do come from immigrant backgrounds on both sides at varying levels.
