And we kind of knew who we would need to beat to achieve our goal.
But it felt like that trade was a lot, like playing a team like the Angels, that we could sort of play at their speed and slow them down and play defense and run the bases.
You know, you're never sure when you make a trade.
It was fairly clear to us.
But, you know, to trade an icon like Nomar was not easy.
And then, you know, the other sort of front office thing in the background, if I remember, I mean, going into spring training, I think we signed David Ortiz, but he would have been a free agent.
Then you had Nomar, Pedro, Derek Lowe, Jason Veritek.
So there's a lot, not only what we're trying to achieve on the field, but decisions to be made going into the following year.
So that was also part of that story.
Well, you don't know.
I think it's what he does a great job of as a manager.
I mean, we want to maximize our roster, and some guys have to maybe take a lesser role even to kind of fit in what we're trying to do.
So, you know, being an extra outfielder with those Red Sox teams or a fifth outfielder meant you weren't going to play a whole lot, but this was your role.
So he knew, and, you know, he was a great base dealer.
I mean, that was the biggest one of his career, the biggest one in our –
