You're a news anchor, apparently.
So I mentioned yellow.
They're not always yellow.
They can be orange.
They can be white.
They can be kind of purpley peach.
They open in the morning and close in the evening, which is given them the name the shepherd's clock.
And they do that to preserve pollen and keep that pollen safe for the next day, which also makes it, and this is one of my favorite words, photonasty.
Oh, that's a great word.
Plants open and close with the setting and rising of the sun.
It's called photonasty.
I saw like a time lapse.
Actually, it wasn't a video.
It was just a series of photos of the dandelion flower opening and closing over the course of the day.
I found I ran across a word from researching this that I'd never heard before that I absolutely love.
Dandelions, like you said, are edible.
They're used in cooking their culinary plant, which makes them a pot herb.
