The Clintons wanted Trump to be the nominee, right, to their election.

to their error politically but uh the never trumpers uh actually burned their party cards um sometimes literally not actually an analogy they actually burned their party cards and they they opposed trump and why because you know it wasn't so much they said it was about his character and the bankruptcies and the divorces and all this stuff but i think they would have lumped it if he had been with them on foreign policy and he was loud

rude and unsparing on the mistakes of the Bush presidency, on the Iraq war, on the lack of necessity of these foreign wars, how America was getting ripped off on the world stage, how it was wasting its time in the Middle East.

He was unsparing on that in 2016.

And he was unsparing in 2024 as well.

In a lot of ways, Trump is best as a politician, as an insurgent.

I mean, that 2020 campaign was pretty lame, honestly.

The 2016 and 2024 campaigns were better because he was articulating this message.

And it is a complete act of retroactive continuity to try to argue that he always ran as a sort of Marco Rubio circa 2015 Republican.
