The sun was shining across Sydney.

Spring was now days from springing.

We'd all survived another winter and there was a sense of excitement in the air as news first broke that Married at First Sight was set to introduce a gay couple onto the new series.

And I found that out a few hours before everybody else did when the first article went out as my morning that day was interrupted by a ping on my phone.

And a message from a paparazzi contact.

Hey mate, there's a gay wedding happening up here in Palm Beach if you want to come crash it.

Looks like it's starting any minute though.

As much as I wanted to go and cheer them on from the sideline, that day, I couldn't.

Mostly because I had work, but also because if you've ever been to Palm Beach in Sydney, you'll know it is such an effort to drive to, and to be honest, I just couldn't be bothered.

Oh, no way, mate, I replied.

I can't make it, though.

It's kind of far and I'm a bit busy.

But send me pics through once you see the grooms.

Like, I wonder if I know one or what if I've got with one of them before.

Lol.

As an hour or so then passed and I got back on with my day, I was interrupted again.

I'd been sent two pictures of two different men, suited and booted, both arriving at that ceremony.

And as I zoomed in and looked at their faces, I thought, no fucking way.

What are the chances?

Phone in hand, now oddly excited by the coincidence, I sent a voice message back to that paparazzi contact.
