without Marcus Simeon, if it's a plus, sure.
Like, it's a plus having him be the offensive player he's been throughout his career because Marcus first was a bat first guy, right?
Like, the defense part of it didn't become a thing until Ron Washington got with him in Oakland and he sort of changed around his entire career.
You can go back to what I wrote about Marcus in 2018.
It was tough to watch.
2017, forget about it.
People, I mean, it was every day there was an error, right?
I think he led the league in errors and it's like,
Ron Washington came around and, you know, sort of changes his career around while he's also struggling.
So the thing I can say about Marcus is,
is that he is definitely a guy that I think can take on this quiet leadership role.
He's a guy that's won before the World Series, and it was old enough.
Juan Soto, fine, you won, but you won when you were 19 years old.
It's sort of like Miguel Cabrera winning when he was 20.
How much can you really teach somebody about winning when you just win that early and you don't ever win again?
And so I think there's something to that.
I think there's more depth to him.
In addition, there's one anecdote I can give about Marcus.
Whenever you interview him, whenever you interview people around the league, a lot of them sit down at their locker, right?
Marcus and John Shay will back me up on this.
