Governor Andy Beshear signed emergency measures that will freeze Kentucky's sales tax on gasoline starting in July and declared a state of emergency that would lower prices by 10 cents a gallon beginning next week if it's approved by the state's attorney general.
Beshear said he doesn't see negotiations to end the war with Iran moving forward, and it's time to, quote, be proactive.
Beshear has also urged members of Congress to suspend the federal gas tax.

The Kentucky Derby typically draws more than 150,000 racing fans to Churchill Downs, making it one of the largest single-day sporting events in the world.
Governor Andy Beshear said officials have implemented a multi-layered security plan at the racetrack.
Owners, staff and fans will pass through security screenings and metal detectors and can expect an increased police presence, including patrols on horseback.
