When we started in 2011, the idea that technology would just change culture was not taken for granted.
Like, this was our pitch.
Like, we're starting a new website.
It's about technology and culture being the same thing.
And everyone was like, what are you talking about?
It's cell phones, right?
You're doing cell phones.
It turns out cell phones have changed the entire world.
We were correct.
We bet correctly, but it was not obvious when we started the way it is obvious now.
That's still our foundation.
That's still our thesis.
We do a lot of that coverage.
That's where a bunch of angry emails about covering Trump came from.
We're committed to that coverage.
My thesis of the early part of the Trump administration in Doge was a bunch of tech bros realized the government runs on databases and they could just take over the databases and delete them.
And that would change the government.
