He came with us too, Gerard, for that 15 weeks, and he was outstanding too.
So they actually do have two very good candidates in their pockets there.
But maybe it's time, Gerard, I'm not sure what you think, but whether or not they go outside the sort of the realm.
Yeah, and I think a bit like Carlton, it's funny, it's always very similar, Jared, is whoever they decide as coach will want strong conviction, strong support to make sure that they can push through.
I think that's the bit.
And the strong support is twofold.
I think they'll need a very strong coaching group around them and then they'll need β
unequivocal support from the CEO and the board and stakeholders to ensure that there is some space for them to get to work because there's some work to be done and it's not going to be pretty.
So yeah, there's no doubt that they'll need strength and conviction in how they play and how they think a football club should be run.
And then they'll need support to execute that.
And I think they all got to a point, and Andrew was obviously very clear last year about that they were going to keep him the whole time, and they had to start being β
a team and a club of substance and making sure that they followed through and that's what it was.
And it was more of a cultural stand, like you said, Gerard.
But also at the same time, Brad's opinion is very highly regarded as it should be a senior coach.
But the reason why the senior coach is not the list manager and the recruiter and all that is because they've got different timelines on success and also what it looks like big picture.
And I think when you make decisions like that, it should be the CEO, the president, the GM of football and the senior coach and maybe one or two other that put their... Everyone's entitled to an opinion.
You put it in, everyone's weighted slightly differently, Gerard.
And then the final decision maker on this front, obviously...
was the president and he chose, you know, to ensure that there was some, a real, really firm concrete backbone to Essendon.
But you can imagine how challenging that would be for, for Brad Jarrett to be like, well, I could have turned that into three first round picks or two first round picks.
