You're not trying to hurt the guy.
You're trying to just get him in shape and ready for the fight.
So when I first went in, remember I had this match with Vader and, um,
It was like sparring, right?
And I thought it was a great match, and it was a good match, but I remember Brett coming to me and Invader coming out of the ring where I broke his nose, and I didn't know I did that, right?
And I thought it was great and everything was good, but it wasn't.
Everybody loved it, but they said, man, you got to taper that down times 10.
So it really helped me understand where I needed to be.
But as far as defending all of that stuff,
It was because I had the experience early on with Nelson and the circuit and being able to run for two, three years with Nelson and understanding the business quite a bit.
I hadn't forgotten that.
So I knew what it was when I went in there and I didn't have any problems whatsoever.
In fact, I was more prepared for it because I was able to roll with punches.
I was able to roll with different things that people were doing to me because that's how we defended if something did happen to connect, you would just kind of loosen up and roll with it in that moment.
So it really helped me transition into the WWE with everything that those guys were trying to do and allowing them to be able to put me in compromising positions and being able to flow with them.
We used to call this thing flow wrestling, where we would just condition, right?
And it would be one transition moves from another transition with zero resistance.
And we would do that for 15 or 20 minutes from move to move to move to move to move while we were on the ground in and out of holes.
And I thought that was a perfect example of being able to kind of in my mind go, that's what I need to do with these guys, being able to flow in and out of stuff without trying to put each other in a situation where they can't escape.
Sorry, I got to get some water.
