And when I was running the research station in Burrishule, it was normally the 1st of May.
And that day was the day when those fish would move, even if there wasn't a lot of water.
And these other beautiful creatures called taupe as well.
And sometimes because there was a barrier with them moving from the upper lake to the lower lake, they'd actually get marooned at the back of the barrier until there was a little bit of extra water.
So lots of these creatures.
Kevin Flannery has been on before, I know, talking about them very eloquently.
But certainly to find one of these very rare creatures, or at least the mermaid's purse, indicating that one of these very rare creatures has spawned, I think is fantastic.
But they'd still be there knocking on the door.
And it has shifted just slightly now over recent decades.
But it is amazing that that sort of calendar, if you like, is followed.
Is it shifted to be earlier?
Right.
Yeah, well, I think, you know, it's a mixture.
It's a mixture of them all.
It's certainly it's the light, you know, it's the actual metabolism of the fish.
It's the growth rate of the fish.
You know, it's the temperature of the water and this incredible mix and how it hits the button every time is just extraordinary.
And when they go out to sea, we know that they have to meet very special sort of plankton in order to be able to survive and move to Norway.
Oh, absolutely thrilled.
