It was about 10 o'clock at night.
I was reading it, and it said, Poetry's Homecoming Parade, coming for Luton on the return of a tour from Iraq.
So I thought, what?
I didn't know about that.
And this was on a Tuesday.
And I thought, surely that would be on a Saturday, you know, when the whole town could turn out to welcome him, you know.
So I'm reading it and I thought, well, I'm going to that.
I'm going to that.
So I was a self-employed carpenter.
So I thought, I'm taking the day off.
So I called Steve straight away.
I said, Steve, look, the lads are coming over from a tour.
They're going to march through Luton.
It's a big show.
I think Luton Borough Council are trying to squeeze it through the thing because it's a bit, you know, we've got a heavy Muslim population and we're trying to get it under the radar as easy as possible.
You know, a bit of a crafty one.
So I thought, no, no, no.
So I told this to Steve.
He said, well, what are you saying?
I said, well, I'm going down there.
