It was the best place to grow up, you know, and the friendships and the madness, you know.
There was only like two or three people that had cars around where my parents lived.
You know, there was dogs walking about everywhere, mongrel dogs.
You don't see none of that no more.
It was just a different world, a different place.
But it was like, for childhood, it was great.
You know, I was kind of feral, you know, and I was...
bit off my head sort of thing yeah what were you like I was like a stick in a dump what were you like as a kid oh that was bad that was really bad I used to oh gosh I would just we were like latchkey kids whatever you want to call them we'd get thrown out of the house in the morning and we weren't allowed to come back until five six o'clock at night so we just got up to whatever we got up to I was a bit of a pyromaniac so I used to like light fires but near my mother's house it was like a marshland we called it the dumps
And it's got a preservation order on it now and all that sort of stuff.
But back then, there was rubbish dumped over there, old cars.
And we'd make all our dens there, you know.
And I would sleep over there every weekend.
But I wouldn't.
Everyone else had to ask their parents if they could camp out.
We called it camping out.
And I would just run down a back alley, open the back door.
Mum, Dad, you know, I'm sleeping over the dumps tonight.
I'll be back Sunday.
They'd say, all right, don't be walking around the street getting up to mischief, you know.
I'd say, yeah, yeah.
