He's just a ball player.
He is going to find out, and I hope the game maybe evolves, but he's never going to be this 800 OPS guy because he's not going to walk, right?
He's going to be very reliant on the hit.
He's going to play great defense.
He's got versatility.
He's got the intangibles that you want, the things that you really can't quantify on paper.
He's got a high baseball IQ.
He knows how to do everything on a baseball field.
If you need him to steal a base, he can sneak up, steal a base.
You need him to go first and third.
You need someone to get grindy and that bad.
He knows how to do those things.
He's just a ball player.
So when I see him, I see a lot in myself.
There's times I wish I could pull him aside or I want to yell at him through the TV and be like, hey, what you're doing is great.
And I wish I would have had someone tell me earlier in my career that β
Yes, it's great to be like a free swinger and the hand-eye coordination is out of this world, and I thought the same thing.
And I probably wish someone would have told me in the minor leagues, like, hey, that's not going to work here, buddy.
But at some point, the league is going to figure you out.
