No matter how bad my offense got, I just knew that β
if I could stay very consistent defensively, whether I was playing center or the corners later in my career, it would give me opportunities to get at bats, to kind of figure out the offense, or give me opportunities to stay on the roster so that I could work in the cage or really work at stuff to stay in the league.
So, yeah, maybe because I never kind of reached that offensive ceiling that I thought I would have, I knew my calling card was going to be defense defensively.
Yeah, we have a lot of similarities.
Never seen a pitch we don't like.
And you got to take the good and the bad, right?
You know, because you're sitting there last night after which we talked about off air.
We talked about the second and third situation.
Right.
So now getting, you know, Vladdy over, right?
And then Ernie comes up and.
Doesn't swing at the best pitch, grounds out the third, and you're like, God, man, like, be a little bit more patient.
Then he leaves off the ninth and gets one of the best closures in baseball.
First pitch, whack.
Lead off single to right.
So I think there was probably a lot of people that said the same thing about me when I was playing.
Like, you got to take the good and the bad, right?
He's hitting 300.
You know, he's got, you know, mid-700 OPS.
I think he just kind of is who he is, right?
